Building Energy Rating (BER)

As from January 2009 - every property owner in Ireland will be required to obtain a Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate if they intend to sell or rent their house or commercial property.
The energy rating of your property will be a determining factor in the valuation of your home into the future.  With a BER certificate - each potential purchaser or renter will know at a glance how efficient the property is to heat.

A BER is standard calculation of the energy performance of a building, produced by a qualified assessor.  The ratings are similar to those used for Electrical appliances - with an “A” rated property beng the best - being  the most energy efficient and will tend to have lower energy bills.

Heat Recovery Ventilation is something that should be seriously considered for all new houses as both the energy and health benefits are immense. As the system enables you to fully seal your home, your Building Energy Rating is instantly improved. Don’t be put off by the fact that this technology seems ‘new’. It’s not a new technology; it is just relatively new to Ireland.
